5 Reasons Bird Owners Are Choosing BirbFlow

5 Reasons Bird Owners Who Swore They'd Never Put A Fountain In The Cage Are Choosing BirbFlow

Half of our customers told us the price almost stopped them. Almost as many told us they'd never thought their bird had a water problem at all: he looks fine, the bowl gets changed every day, why would he need this? Here's what changed their minds, in their own words.

By Tyler JohnsonFounder of BirbFlow

Every objection below is real. Half come from the comments under our ads, the rest from the one question we ask after every order: what almost stopped you? Nothing softened. After each one: what changed their mind.

Reason01

“I Change It Four Times A Day. My Birds Are Fine.”

Good. Keep doing it; our customers do too. But here is why changing it more often never fixed it: a change only resets the clock. The water is clean for exactly as long as it takes him to get to it, and that's minutes. “Dropping food in it immediately after I change the water.” From then on it stands still again, with the pellet, the dropping and the dust in it, until the next time you walk past. Four changes a day still leave hours of standing water in between, and he drinks from it the whole time, because it's the only water he has. More changes shorten the gaps. Only moving water closes them. In BirbFlow the water keeps running through a filter between your changes, so what he drops in is carried out while you're at work. You'll still change it daily. It just isn't soup by lunchtime. What changed minds wasn't a warning, it was noticing: “I clean it every day but she still puts her food in it.”

Reason02

“The Pump Would Just Be A Breeding Ground. He'll Make Soup In It.”

He will make soup in it. And the objection is right about every fountain you can't take apart. One owner's dog fountain “literally smelled like death and had started growing moss on the mechanisms inside. I couldn't get the pump clean.” So BirbFlow puts the filter in front of the pump, where it catches the soup, and the pump itself opens and rinses under the tap, no trapped impeller to fish at with a toothpick. The rest goes in the dishwasher. You still rinse it. It just comes apart so you can.

Reason03

“My Macaw Would Take That Thing Apart. Or Knock It Over.”

We hear it from every big-bird household: “LOL my Hyacinth Macaws would trash that in about the first min.” One customer asked us straight out before he ordered: “will they be able to destroy this product or lift the lid, and knock it over?” Fair question, and we didn't want to answer it with a brochure. Before launch, BirbFlow ran in a parrot rescue, with birds of every size and species they house, from the small ones to the big beaks. Not one of them managed to break it. Here's why: a 304 stainless steel body with no plastic to crack. A wide, low shape built for stability, not a tall cup to tip; full, there's seven pounds of water in the Regular and over fifteen in the Large. No cord anywhere for him to pull or chew: it charges outside the cage and runs cordless inside. If he does lift the lid, the pump sits down in the base. And if yours turns out to be the first to take it apart, you have 30 days to send it back.

“I Don't Buy From Instagram Ads. Who Even Are You?”

A fair question, and we hear it a lot: “Instagram is known for scams.” “Lack of internet reviews and lack of information about the company.” So, plainly: BirbFlow is run by Tyler Johnson in Oklahoma. It ships from the USA and arrives in 2 to 4 working days. You can reach our support 24/7 and 10,000 customers have rated it 4.8 stars. Pay with Shop Pay or PayPal if that's what makes you comfortable; one customer told us “The Shop option helped give me confidence I will receive the product and have a path for support afterwards.” And if your bird won't touch it in 30 days, send it back for a full refund.

Reason05

“I'd Never Pay A Hundred Dollars For A Water Bowl.”

Fair, if it were a bowl. Half of our customers told us the price almost stopped them, and the comparison is always the same: a $25 cat fountain on Amazon. Here's what the $25 one leaves out, because it was built for a cat: deeper water than a bird can stand in, rim holes a toe fits into, a cord inside the cage, a basin too small to flap in, and a pump you can't open to clean. BirbFlow fixes all five. Now the other side of the ledger, the one nobody writes down. Every day on the bowl is the same day: the water turns to soup between your changes, the film is back by the afternoon, and he drinks it anyway, because it's the only water he has. He goes another day without the one piece of the wild that fits in a cage, and he never complains, because parrots don't. They hide what's wrong until it's bad enough for a vet, and one avian vet visit can cost more than this fountain. That is the price of not buying it, paid in his hours, not your dollars. Filters are $19.99 a month and the subscription is optional; skip or pause any time. What changed their minds? “The price but I will do without something for them and hopefully get more later.” “I ordered today because they are Worth it!!”

“Because it just made sense,” one customer wrote when we asked what made her order. Five of the thirty who answered said nothing almost stopped them at all.

Three More Questions We Hear

“He'd chew through the cord in two days.”

He would. Amazon reviews of bird showers say exactly that: “the cord was too easy to chew through. Only lasted 2 days.” BirbFlow has no cord; it charges outside the cage. One customer had tried the alternatives: “I have one for my dogs...but there's a wire… I was wishing for running water with no cord...Wish come true!!”

“He won't go near anything new.”

Most birds are on it the same day; the careful ones stare at it for a few days. Let it run beside the cage first.

“Where does it even go?”

In the cage, on top of it, on the play stand or beside it. More than half of our customers plan to put it inside the cage. [Photo of each placement; spout height in the specs.]

Most of the water fountains I see in bird cages were never designed for birds they were designed for cats. When I look at a product for a parrot, I'm checking boring, specific things: is the water shallow enough that a bird can stand in it, are there gaps that could trap a toe, is there a cord within reach of a beak, and is the pump quiet enough that a nervous bird won't flee the cage. This is the first fountain I've seen that was built to that list.

Kidney disease is relatively common in pet birds, and gout often isn't caught until the bird is already very ill. Hydration is one of the few things an owner can genuinely influence day to day but it's also the hardest for me to get them to monitor, because birds sip so quietly that most owners never actually see it happen. Anything that helps a bird drink more, and lets the owner see that it happened, is worth having.

The water dish is one of the most underestimated infection risks in a cage. Birds dunk their pellets in it, drop feathers into it, and often perch directly above it bacteria counts climb within hours. I tell owners to change it several times a day, and almost nobody manages that in real life. A filtered stainless steel system that keeps the water clean between changes solves a problem I see in practice constantly.
